A rare and unique "Joie D'Hiver" Opera Shawl by Joachim Metz for Hermès. "Winter Joy" shows us just that- duos and trios of Victorian-Edwardian ice skaters and sleigh riders making the best of the season. Jacquard woven silk with couples similar to those in the print shines against the deep navy background, a bold contrast to the rich golden framework and red plumes that share color with a background of snow covered trees. A rare style originally popular in the 1960s, the "Opera Shawl" is a unique construction featuring 1/3 panels of standard size 90 scarves. This piece, issued in 1992, is made of left and right thirds sewn to mirror each other on either side. Pristine. 10" X 70". Crafted in France.
